Which is YOUR Favorite McConaughey?

Matthew McConaughey has never been my favorite actor.  All right, all right, all right.  At most, he's been stoner eye candy to me, but, at the same time, I was hesitant to ever really like him.  I always felt like he smelled like bong water hidden by Axe.  BUT I will admit that in the last three years he has definitely been acting his ass off, and I really want to see him get some awards attention this upcoming season.  Not just for his weight loss acrobatics in the upcoming Dallas Buyers Club, but for Mud.  If you haven't seen the latter film, you should definitely check it out.

Mr. McConaughey turns 44 today (daaaaamn), and I was wondering what kind of McConaughey was your favorite.  There are several kinds of McConaugheys lurking in the shadows of his career.  Take a moment to think about that smile, that body, and the films he has acted in, and then take the poll below:

Maybe you like your McConaughey a little toasted?  A bit scruffy and stoned, perhaps?  His performances in Dazed and Confused, Surfer, Dude, and Magic Mike fall in the Shirtless/Stoner category.  Granted, Matty is always shirtless a bit, but I include his work as a seasoned stripper, because his performance in Magic is his leatheriest, sweatiest, and maybe douchiest.

Maybe you like your McConaughey with a romantic comedy gloss?  A McConaughey that looks good in the entirety of the L.L. Bean collection or a suit jacket and open dress shirt?  The Romantic Comedy McConaughey might be your favorite.  The kind that starts off cocky and self assured, but, by the end, realizes that he can't live without that current up-and-coming Latina pop star turned actress.  Or Kate Hudson.  Twice.

If, like me, you have currently discovered your liking of Mr. McConaughey, you might latch onto the final category, the Prestige McConaughey.  The McConaughey that takes creative risks ("Sure, I'll lose weight to play an ailing AIDS vicitm!" or "Let's throw caution to the win and accept Lee Daniels' constant offer!"), the McConaughey that might be overdue for an Oscar nomination.  The McConaughey that works with Scorsese, Nolan and Soderbergh in the span of three years.
